Sale This Saturday 9-12 at Little Peace Farm!

Posted 4/12/2017 8:25pm by Michael Scheidel.

Hey good folks!

We have so much to post about what's going on at the farm but very little time and night time energy to type up posts.  However, I thought I would pull a late nighter (10:00!!!) and catch you all up.

Sale This Saturday

Stop by the farm this Saturday, April 15th from 9-12 for: our own pastured eggs, local raw cheese, pea shoots, kale, and (possibly) spinach!  We will also have some certified organic seed potato for sale for those who are growing a garden this year as well as some beautiful sweet alyssum flower 6-packs to beautify the home and gardens.

With all of this beautiful weather I have been able to get a lot of field work done including using a friend's subsoil plow which is a single shank that plunges 18-24" deep to break open compacted soil.  We've got our first planting out which includes: kales (Tuscan/red Russian), kohlrabi, head lettuce, peas, spinach, chard, carrots, field greens, radish, turnip, and beets.

Ruby, our family Jersey milking cow is not so lonely in the barn any more.  This weekend we brought home two Boer goats, a lamb, and seven hogs.  These are all for the children to show at the Schuylkill County Fair in July.  And as we do every year, we are also raising pastured broiler chickens (chicks arrive in the mail in two weeks) and several wood lot grown hogs (look for future post about these!).

We still have shares available for our CSA this summer so go to our website and check out the details is you are interested in joining up!

So the farm is beginning to really fill up and green up.  Not sure we're entirely ready for it but regardless, THE SEASON IN UPON US!

Gratefully Growing!
